National Butchers Week 2022 this year is held between the 7th and 13th of March. It’s a time to celebrate butchers and their products by showing your support.
What is National Butchers Week?
National Butchers Week was first created by the Meat Trades Journal, a news media outlet focusing its output on the meat industry, along with the wider sourcing and food industry. Although the Meat Trades Journal ceased publication in 2018 this week has continued to be celebrated. It’s an opportunity to showcase the best that the butchery world has to offer. Not only that but it’s an opportunity for the public to support both local and online butchers.
Why recognising Butchery is so important
Along with carpentry and toolmaking, butchery is one of the oldest trades in the history of mankind. It’s a skill that takes a lot of knowledge and practice and is one that has seen a steady decline since the turn of the century. We think it’s vital to preserve these skills. Therefore, for this reason, whether you’re shopping with your local butcher, with us or with another online butcher, we want to encourage supporting butchery. Of course, we would recommend ourselves but this week is for the bigger picture and the butchery and meat sector in its entirety.
What are we doing to Celebrate National Butchers Week?
To celebrate National Butchers Week, we have decided to launch new products each day this week. Some options are to fill gaps in our current product listings. Many are also from customer suggestions through surveys and contact forms. The first round of products has already been launched and you can view some of the meat options below.
